When you go for a microdermabrasion treatment, here's what you can generally expect:

  • Consultation: The process begins with a consultation where the esthetician or dermatologist assesses your skin and discusses your concerns and goals.

  • Preparation: Your skin will be thoroughly cleaned to remove makeup, oils, and impurities.

  • Procedure: A handheld device is used to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin. There are two main types of microdermabrasion:

  • Crystal Microdermabrasion: Uses a machine that sprays fine crystals onto the skin to exfoliate dead skin cells.

  • Diamond Microdermabrasion: Uses a diamond-tipped wand to abrade the skin's surface.

  • Sensation: You may feel a mild scratching or sanding sensation during the procedure, but it is generally well-tolerated.

  • Post-Procedure Care: After the treatment, your skin may appear slightly red and feel sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects usually subside within a few hours to a day. It's important to follow post-procedure care instructions, including avoiding sun exposure and using gentle skincare products.
